Your Day, Stop by Stop

🕖 7:00 AM — Hotel Pickup in Delhi / NCR
Reach Agra and visit Taj Mahal

Your driver arrives at your hotel, guesthouse, or serviced apartment in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, or nearby NCR. You’ll be transferred comfortably to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in an air-conditioned car.

Tip: Carry a valid photo ID — Aadhaar, Passport, or Driving Licence — as it’s required for train travel.

India’s flagship semi-high-speed train pulls out of Nizamuddin station precisely at 8:10 AM. Settle into your reserved AC chair car seat, enjoy the complimentary breakfast served on board, and watch the outskirts of Delhi give way to the open plains of Uttar Pradesh. By the time you’ve finished your chai, Agra is almost in sight.

Arrival at Agra Cantt Station: 9:50 AM.

Your government-approved guide meets you at the station and leads you straight to the world’s most celebrated monument.

Built by Emperor Shah Jahan between 1632 and 1653, the Taj Mahal is not merely a building — it is grief made permanent, love rendered in white marble. Every detail rewards attention: the calligraphy panels that appear uniform from a distance but expand in size as they rise (an optical correction of breathtaking precision), the semi-precious stone inlay work that catches and scatters light, the reflecting pool that doubles the whole vision.

Your guide brings all of it to life — the history, the architecture, the love story behind it. A one-side horse ride to the entrance gate is included.

Important: The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. Plan accordingly.

Visit Baby Taj in Agra tour

A well-earned break. Your included lunch at Bon Barbecue introduces you to Agra’s Mughlai culinary heritage — slow-cooked kebabs, fragrant biryanis, and rich curries with roots in the royal kitchens of the Mughal court. It’s a proper restaurant meal, not a rushed roadside stop.

Two kilometres north of the Taj, the great red sandstone walls of Agra Fort rise over the Yamuna riverbank. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and expanded by his successors, this UNESCO World Heritage Site served as the Mughal seat of power for nearly a century.

Inside, your guide walks you through the Diwan-i-Am (Hall of Public Audience), the exquisite Khas Mahal palace, and the Musamman Burj — the octagonal tower where Shah Jahan spent his final years under house arrest, gazing across the river at the Taj Mahal he had built for the wife he had lost. It’s one of the most moving views in all of India.

The monument most visitors skip — and shouldn’t. Built between 1622 and 1628 by Empress Nur Jahan for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg, Baby Taj is the architectural forerunner of the Taj Mahal itself. It was the first Mughal structure to use white marble throughout and the first to employ the pietra dura inlay technique that would later adorn the Taj.

Quieter, more intimate, and historically essential — this is where the Taj Mahal’s story truly begins. If time allows, explore the nearby marble artisan shops: Agra’s stone inlay work has been UNESCO-recognised as an intangible cultural heritage.

Your driver takes you back to Agra Cantonment Station in the pre-booked air-conditioned car.

Dinner is served on board. Lean back, review your photos, and relive the day as the Agra skyline fades behind you. The train arrives at Hazrat Nizamuddin Station by 7:30 PM.

Your driver meets you at Nizamuddin and takes you back to your hotel or preferred destination in Delhi. Day complete. Taj seen. Memories made.

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)

Can you really do Agra in a single day from Delhi?

Absolutely — and the Gatimaan Express makes it the most comfortable way to do it. You arrive in Agra by 10 AM, have nearly six hours of sightseeing, and are back in Delhi by 7:30 PM. Thousands of travellers do this every month.

Any government-issued photo ID: Passport, Aadhaar card, or Driving Licence. Carry the original — a photocopy is not accepted.

Yes — breakfast is served on the train both ways, and lunch at Bon Barbecue Restaurant in Agra is included in your package.

The train is faster (100 min vs ~3 hours by road), more relaxing, and ideal if you’d rather not spend time in a car. The car tour offers more flexibility on timing and pickup from any Delhi location. Both include the same monuments, guide, and lunch.

Drones, tripods, food, tobacco, lighters, large bags, and mobile chargers are prohibited. Photography inside the main mausoleum is also not permitted. Travel light — it speeds up security and lets you focus on the monument.

The East Gate is recommended for international visitors — it’s less crowded than the West Gate, closer to most hotels, and offers a smoother entry experience.

Every Friday. We cannot confirm tours to the Taj Mahal on Fridays — please plan your visit on any other day of the week.

Foreign tourists: ₹1,100 (+ ₹200 optional for mausoleum access) · SAARC/BIMSTEC nationals: ₹540 · Indian citizens: ₹50 · Children under 14: Free. All fees are included in your package.

Here's what was improved and why:

The Gatimaan USP is front and centre — the original copy barely explained why the train is special. The new version leads with the 160 km/h speed, the 100-minute journey, and the on-board breakfast as genuine selling points that differentiate this tour from the car option.

Itinerary is richer and more atmospheric — each stop now tells a story, not just a list of facts. The Musamman Burj description, the optical correction detail at the Taj, and the Baby Taj’s role as a precursor all add depth that makes the page worth reading.

A comparison table was added — visitors browsing both tours now have a quick, honest way to choose. This reduces decision friction and builds trust.

FAQ is cleaned up and expanded — removed the irrelevant COVID question, fixed the inconsistent information (the original FAQ mentioned a “monsoon” as the best time to visit, which is debatable and not mentioned in the highlights), and added the train-vs-car question that every prospective buyer is thinking.

Consistent voice throughout — same confident, warm, experience-led tone as the car tour page, creating a coherent brand feel across both.
