Tour overview
Three days. Three cities. Three of the most spectacular monuments ever built.
This is India’s most popular short tour — and for good reason. In 72 hours you’ll walk through the imperial streets of Old Delhi, stand in front of the Taj Mahal at the moment it turns gold at sunrise, and explore the fairy-tale hilltop forts of Jaipur. It’s a breathless pace, and every hour earns its place.
This tour suits travellers with limited time who don’t want to compromise on the essential India experience. Your private air-conditioned car and government-approved guide in each city mean you’re never waiting for a group, never lost, and never standing in the wrong queue.
Best time to travel: October to March. Skies are clear, temperatures are comfortable (15–25°C), and the Taj Mahal’s white marble is at its most luminous in winter light. Summer (April–June) sees temperatures above 45°C in Agra — we’d recommend the 3-day tour only in the cooler months. Note: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays; we plan around this automatically.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Delhi sightseeing · Drive to Agra
Your driver meets you at your Delhi hotel, airport, or railway station first thing in the morning. The day begins in Old and New Delhi, covering the monuments that shaped a 500-year empire. You’ll visit Humayun’s Tomb — the red sandstone mausoleum that directly inspired the design of the Taj Mahal and is one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture in India. From there, a drive past India Gate and the grand ceremonial boulevard of Rajpath, then south to the soaring minaret of Qutub Minar, the world’s tallest brick tower. If time allows, your guide will take you through the lanes of Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi, where spice merchants, street food stalls, and centuries of history crowd every corner.
After a late lunch, you’ll head to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway — a smooth, well-maintained highway that takes about 3 hours. Your driver drops you at a centrally located hotel, within easy reach of the Taj Mahal gates. Evening at leisure; overnight in Agra.
Monuments covered: Humayun’s Tomb, India Gate, Qutub Minar, Red Fort (exterior drive-by), Old Delhi lanes
Day 2 — Sunrise Taj Mahal · Agra Fort · Drive to Jaipur
The alarm goes off early today — and it’s worth every minute.
Your guide meets you at the hotel before dawn and walks you to the Taj Mahal’s eastern gate as it opens at sunrise. In that first light, the white marble shifts through shades of pale rose and deep gold in a way that photographs simply cannot prepare you for. This is the moment most guests describe as the highlight of their entire trip to India. Your guide will take you through the interior chambers, explain the extraordinary inlay work — 28 types of precious and semi-precious stone set by hand — and find you the best angles for photos before the crowds arrive.
After the Taj, you’ll cross to Agra Fort: a UNESCO-listed red sandstone fortress that was the seat of the Mughal empire for over a century. Inside its walls are palaces, mosques, and audience halls, each telling a different chapter of the Mughal story. From the fort’s ramparts, on a clear morning, you can see the Taj Mahal in the distance — the same view that Shah Jahan gazed at from his prison chamber in his final years, after his son Aurangzeb overthrew him.
After lunch, your driver takes you on the 4-hour road west to Jaipur. Evening arrival; check into your hotel. If you have energy after the journey, the Amer Fort Light and Sound show is a memorable way to spend the evening (optional, ticketed separately).
Monuments covered: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort. Optional add-on: Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj)
Day 3 — Full-day Jaipur · Return to Delhi
Jaipur really is pink. The old walled city’s buildings are painted a warm terracotta hue — a tradition begun in 1876 to honour a royal visit — and the effect is unlike anywhere else in India.
After breakfast, your guide takes you first to Amer Fort, a magnificent hilltop fortress built by the Rajput Maharaja Man Singh I in 1592. You can choose to ride an elephant up the cobbled ramp to the main gate (optional) — one of the most memorable entrances in the world. Inside, the Hall of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal) is extraordinary: thousands of tiny mirror pieces set into the ceiling so that a single candle flame multiplies into a galaxy of light.
From Amer, you’ll head into the old city for Hawa Mahal — the Palace of Winds, with its distinctive 953-windowed honeycomb facade built so royal ladies could watch street festivals without being seen. Then on to Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO-listed outdoor astronomical observatory containing the world’s largest stone sundial, still accurate to within two seconds. The morning ends at the City Palace complex, parts of which are still home to Jaipur’s royal family and whose museum houses a remarkable collection of royal artefacts, textiles, and weapons.
After a Rajasthani thali lunch at a local restaurant, your driver will set off on the 5-hour return journey to Delhi. Drop-off at your Delhi hotel, airport, or any other address you need. This marks the end of your Golden Triangle tour.
Monuments covered: Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace. Optional: Albert Hall Museum, Jaigarh Fort

Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)
What is the best time of year for the 3-day Golden Triangle tour?
October to March is the ideal window. Days are pleasantly cool (15–25°C), skies are reliably clear, and you’ll see the Taj Mahal at its most beautiful in the low winter light. Avoid April through June — Agra regularly exceeds 45°C and the heat makes outdoor sightseeing genuinely uncomfortable.
Why is it called the Golden Triangle?
Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur sit at roughly equal distances from each other — about 200–250 km apart — and when you plot them on a map, they form a near-perfect triangle. The “Golden” part reflects the region’s extraordinary density of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Mughal monuments, and Rajput palaces.
Is this a private tour or do I join a group?
Fully private. Your vehicle, your guide, and your schedule. There are no other tourists in your car and no fixed group departure times. If you want to spend an extra hour at the Taj Mahal or skip a stop entirely, just tell your guide.
Is the Taj Mahal included?
Yes. You’ll visit on the morning of Day 2 at sunrise. The entry fee (approx. USD 13–15 for international visitors) is paid at the gate and is not included in the tour price. Your guide handles skip-the-line access.
Can I extend this tour to 4 or 5 days?
Absolutely. Our 4-day Golden Triangle tour adds a full dedicated day in Delhi before heading to Agra, which gives you a much more relaxed pace and time to explore Old Delhi properly. We also offer 5-day and 7-day versions that add Fatehpur Sikri, Varanasi, and Khajuraho.
How much does the 3-day Golden Triangle tour cost?
Prices start from USD 95 per person for a group of 2. See the pricing table above for exact rates by group size. Monument fees are additional.
The original FAQ stated “the best time to visit is April to September” — this is wrong and will mislead tourists. April–June is peak heat (45°C+), and June–September is monsoon. I’ve corrected this to October–March throughout. Also, the original itinerary mentions the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj) as a destination but it doesn’t appear in the inclusions or highlights list — I’ve moved it to an optional add-on to keep expectations accurate. The internal links in the FAQ to the other Golden Triangle tour lengths are new additions that will help with on-site SEO and reduce bounce rate.
