Red Fort, Raj Ghat & India Gate
The Mughal imperial palace, Gandhi’s cremation memorial, and New Delhi’s great ceremonial boulevard past Parliament House and Rashtrapathi Bhavan.

Agra Fort · Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah · Mehtab Bagh
Agra Fort Day 5 — Golden Triangle 7 Days
Agra Fort
Akbar’s great red sandstone citadel — 94 acres of audience halls, palaces and the Musamman Burj tower where Shah Jahan spent his final years gazing at the Taj across the river.
Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj)
The first Mughal monument entirely in white marble — exquisite pietra dura inlay work that directly inspired the Taj Mahal’s decoration. Quieter, more intimate, entirely unmissable.
Mehtab Bagh — Taj at Sunset
The Moonlight Garden opposite the Taj — the only place to see the monument reflected in still water as the sky turns gold at dusk. Built by Emperor Babur, it frames the Taj in a way the main complex cannot.

Khajuraho temples Day 6 — Golden Triangle 7 Days

Morning train from Agra Cantt to Jhansi — approximately 2 hours. Comfortable AC chair car. A private car awaits at Jhansi station for the remaining drive to Khajuraho (~3 hours).
Khajuraho Temple Complex (afternoon)
Built by the Chandela rulers between 950 and 1050 AD, Khajuraho’s 25 surviving temples are among the most extraordinary achievements in Indian architecture. UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples are famous for their erotic sculptures — but the full artistic programme covers every aspect of human and divine life, with technical mastery that continues to astonish architects and historians.
Key Temples: Kandariya Mahadev, Lakshmana, Devi Jagadambi
The Kandariya Mahadev is the largest and finest — 31 metres of ascending towers covered in over 800 sculptures. The Lakshmana Temple (10th century, built by King Yashovarman) and Devi Jagadambi are also outstanding.

Varanasi Ganges Day 7 — Golden Triangle 7 Days
Flight Khajuraho → Varanasi
Morning flight from Khajuraho to Varanasi (approximately 1 hour). Your driver meets you at Varanasi airport.
Varanasi — Burning Ghats
Varanasi is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth — sacred to Hindus for over 3,000 years. The ghats (stone steps) descend to the Ganges along a 7-kilometre waterfront. The burning ghats at Manikarnika and Harishchandra have operated without interruption for thousands of years, as Hindus believe that dying in Varanasi brings moksha (release from the cycle of rebirth).
Boat Ride on the Ganges
A rowing boat on the Ganges gives the only true perspective of the ghats — the full sweep of the waterfront, the pilgrims bathing at dawn, the temples rising above the river. One of the most atmospheric boat rides in the world.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple & Ganga Aarti Ceremony
The Kashi Vishwanath (Golden Temple) is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva — among the holiest sites in Hinduism. In the evening, the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Dashashwamedh Ghat is a spectacle of fire, flowers, incense and chanting that has taken place every sunset for centuries. Overnight stay in Varanasi.

★★★★★

“Varanasi was unlike any place we’ve ever visited. The Ganga Aarti ceremony at sunset was profoundly moving — fire, chanting, thousands of pilgrims. Khajuraho exceeded all expectations (the temples are extraordinary and almost empty of tourists). The whole seven-day arc felt perfectly constructed.”

★★★★★

“The Khajuraho temples were the revelation of the trip. The scale and quality of the sculpture is astonishing — nothing prepares you for it. And Varanasi on the final day was simply extraordinary. Perfect Agra Tours managed all the logistics — train, flight, drivers in each city — without a single problem.”

Frequently Asked Questions

The 8-day tour adds two entirely new cities that no shorter Golden Triangle package visits. Khajuraho is home to India’s most remarkable medieval temple complex — UNESCO World Heritage Site, 10th-century Chandela temples with extraordinary sculptural programmes. And Varanasi is the holiest city in Hinduism — one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, and an experience completely unlike any other place in India. This is not simply a longer Golden Triangle tour; it’s a fundamentally different journey. (the garden directly opposite the Taj Mahal — the only place to see the Taj reflected in still water at sunset) plus a full second Agra day, deeper Delhi coverage including the Red Fort Light & Sound Show, and significantly more time in each city. Nothing feels rushed. Fatehpur Sikri en route to Agra on Day 2 (Akbar’s abandoned UNESCO World Heritage capital — usually missed on shorter tours), a second visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, and a dedicated second day in Jaipur covering all three forts — Amber, Nahargarh and Jaigarh — which shorter tours simply can’t fit. The overall pace is more relaxed, with no day that feels rushed.

Hotels are not included in the base price but can be arranged. We work with vetted 3-star, 4-star and 5-star properties in both Agra and Jaipur. Share your preference when enquiring and we’ll include hotel options in your quote. Agra 5-star options include properties with direct Taj Mahal views from the room.

Entry fees are not included in the base tour price and are paid on-site. Your guide will tell you exactly what each monument costs before you enter — there are no surprises. Entry fee costs for foreign nationals are available from us on request.

October to March — cool, dry and clear across all three cities. November to February is the prime season. April to June is hot (Delhi can reach 45°C) but manageable in an AC car. July to September (monsoon) brings rain but also lush greenery and thinner crowds at the monuments.

Absolutely — we build all Golden Triangle tours to your preferences. Common additions include Fatehpur Sikri en route to Agra, Mehtab Bagh (the sunset garden opposite the Taj), Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur, or extra time at any site. Just mention it when you enquire.

The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday. We always confirm your travel dates avoid a Friday before building the itinerary — this is handled automatically when you book with us.
